Make a collection card

Photograph a hat from the front, side and inside without forcing its shape. Record visible labels exactly, including uncertain lettering. Note material claims on the label separately from your own impressions.

Add condition notes and where the item came from. Keep seller descriptions as attributed notes rather than proven history. Avoid cleaning or reshaping an unfamiliar piece merely to improve the photograph.
